In recognition of Black History Month, we will be screening “Harriet”, a biographical film about slave-turned-abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
Tubman was born into slavery, and escaped herself. She rescued over 70 other slaves, including family and friends, over the course of 13 different missions using the Underground Railroad. Not only did she help free slaves, but she also helped them find work further north. She later worked for the Union Army during the civil war, and guided a raid that freed an additional 700+ slaves.
Cynthia Erivo plays Tubman in this 2019 film.
Come see one of our two screenings at the Historic Ute Theatre to learn more about and celebrate this historical figure during Black History Month!
